Progress and a great photo.

We’ve worked hard on Insight today and made some important decisions.  The most important is wed are going for a 56-page mag with covers.   We have all of the copy in, apart from some last minute bits.  We’re getting some super photography: good old creative commons on Flickr.  Look at this one by Vittorio Vida for immigration over the Med:

It’s coming together.

organisation of jobs

Today, I made a spread sheet of all the jobs that need to be sorted in order for the promotion, events and social media team need to do. The members in this team were all on track and were continuing to push forward the event that will be on 1st April. They need to produce and hand out posters around the rest of the university next week so that we can hopefully gain more people to come to the event.

The spread sheet will be regularly updated and used to keep a track upon what they are working on and towards.

I completed my first piece of copy and went through the layout, colour and style with Iyma for it to be put into the magazine.

Organising Insight

Today in my role as production manager I created a progress chart to ensure the flow of copy being handed to sub editors and the design team remains at a steady pace.

For my own first copy I have transcribed and interview done with a fellow student about how he feels he is being portrayed in the media as a young Muslim male.

Social Media

I’ve made some exciting changes to Insight’s social media, including:

– increased consistency of logos and design;

– updated information on Facebook page,

– Taster evening event now has a poster containing all important information= has been forwarded to relevant contacts in and around university.

More developments to come!

Progression and planning

This week we have officially anounced the first taster event to promote Insight 2015. The event will be called ‘Inside Insight’ and will feature a taster copy of our magazine and be open for comments and feedback from the attendees. I have now organised all of the events split by topic, and the news of these events will follow. This week I am going to create an advert for the taster events.

Mental health progression..

Today I added in the interview I did yesterday to my copy, however I am still waiting to do one with a nurse. I also contacted a life coach who gave me her email address to answer some questions, which I too can corporate into my article… I looked online for contact details of help lines for mental health, so I have the information ready for when I start making my pages hopefully starting next week… Also my position from photographer has changed and I will be assisting with helping with the event. This week I will contact a local Labour MP I know and ask her if she would be willing to come and even better know of any contacts that would also be interested.

WE are making progress!

Today we made progress in a number of areas.

I came up with the idea of having a gallery that split two faces in half and to photoshop the two halves together to show the contrast of the two people.

I have also made progress with my content for the magazine and produced a rough  feature story.

We discussed promotional activity and I will be contacting charities to invite them to a promotional event for Insight 2015.

PROGRESSION

Today I started my article…

From Facebook, I took the quotes I got on people thoughts on mental health and decided to integrate them into my article, but I will still do the one word quotes from people all over the UK.

I also found an article about Robin Williams saying his death may have decreased the stigma around mental health and have found a quote from Maria Flower who recently appeared on, ‘This Morning’, talking about her mental illness… to which she says she has had some positivity posted to her on social networking. So the stigma around this issue may be changing. I have added this to my article. Rachel.
